ta da - I pushed send!

Dear Friends,

I am pleased to announce my new venture as a Wedding Consultant and the start of my business One Enchanted Wedding. For the past five and a half years I have worked as an Event Coordinator for a pharmaceutical manufacturing company and recently completed a 60-hour professional training course with the Association of Professional Certified Wedding Consultants (www.acpwc.com). This new opportunity brings together my passion for supporting couples through sacred rites of passage with my natural gift for creativity, detail and large event management.

If you’ve ever known a bride and groom who plans their own wedding, you know what a big project this can be (and is usually on top of their full-time day job)! Imagine if there was one person who knew every detail of their careful planning and could help bring their vision into reality on their wedding day… stress-free! That one person is me. My services range from full scale planning to simply wedding day coordination, and I can also do consultations by the hour.

I am writing you to gain momentum and support for my business. If you can think of anyone you know who is planning a wedding or you hear of an engagement in the future, please consider referring them to me. As this is my first year in business, I think they will find my rates surprisingly affordable and well worth the expense.

My warmest regards,

Helen K.

  1. Wow! Good letter. Congratulations. This is so exciting.

  2. This is fantastic and I would recommend you to people I know are getting married - absolutely.

Congratulations, Helen. I'm cheerleading for you!

Congratulations and good luck in this new business! There is definitely potential, although it is a lot of hard work. Kathy has given some thought over the years of doing something like this once her career in the ACCO world came to an end - she also loves doing the kind of planning and arranging that is required. Are you in business by yourself, or do you have some partners? Let us know how things are going.

    Grand opening

    to new possibilities…

    with the tender fearlessness

that knows fear and moves forward anyway.

much blessings on your new venture.

  5. Anonymous9:49 AM

    Congratulations! This sounds terrific!

  6. Anonymous9:51 AM

I love it! So professional and confident!

Congratulations on the launch of your new business. You sound very inspired.

I don’t know anyone currently planning a wedding; however, I thought you might like a referral to one of my closest friends, Andrew Clark. He is perhaps the #1 wedding photographer in Colorado and certainly one of the top in the country. Andrew has been in the business for about 4 years, started with no contacts and just a camera. In a very short period of time he has rapidly established himself as a prominent photographer doing weddings for the Coors family and the Bass family, as well has hundreds of others. He’s extremely well connected throughout the wedding industry. His email address is: andrew@andrewclarkphotography.com.

Good luck with your business. I’ll certainly refer you if there is an opportunity.

  8. Anonymous9:51 AM

Well done, Helen! Jamie told me you were doing some freebies, so I gave one of
my students your name. Of course I'll pass on paying customers, too. I
honestly cannot imagine anyone who would do a more sensitive, responsive,
organized, visionary job than you in this arena. This is the perfect
    expression of you!

  9. Anonymous9:52 AM

Congrats on your new business. Will you only be doing
Colorado weddings? Or worldwide affairs? What else
is new? When are you coming to SF next? Please let
me know and Adella and I will meet you here in the
    city or something fun.

    Miss you.

PS - Shelby had her third baby - a boy - William
    Robert in early Feb.

    Hi there Helen:

Congratulations on your new venture. Sounds wonderful - and sounds like you are doing something you love. That is so important, I'm still trying to figure out what that is. Are you starting off moonlighting or diving right into it? Will definitely let my friends know about your services if they are inquiring.

    Again, congratulations and best wishes!

  11. Anonymous9:53 AM

    Good job.
I think you will do well.
Referrals, referrals, referrals are most likely what one needs to get started.
So get in the door of someones mid-size to large-size wedding,
undercut the competition which probably means sacrificing your
personal profit and do a bang up job. Then, hope for referral.
    You will do fine.

  12. Anonymous9:54 AM

You mean like me? The date is May 27th.

If you can call me tomorrrow (Wednesday), that would be great!

  13. Anonymous9:54 AM

I LOVE that you are doing this. You occur to me as someone
who would bring love, delight, professionalism, and graciousness
    to the celebration of marriage.

Thanks for sharing this and I'm filing it away for future reference.

What is up for me is Terry, my husband, and I just moved to
Durango 4 weeks ago and we're settling in to our new home.
We're still working jobs with our company - Tiptop Software

Also, it's no surprise that I heard from you because I was looking
though my address book this weekend and saw your name and
wondered about you !? Is this your new email to reach you at?

    Love, Diane Howe

Good luck on your new business. The best way to get involved is to network with facilities that cater to weddings. There is probably a networking group that touches all the facets of weddings, like photographers, caterers, etc.

  15. Anonymous9:55 AM

Congratulations! That is great news Helen. I am also in Event/Meeting Planning and sell wedding invitations while home with the boys. I am in the process of getting my website up and running but maybe we could partner on things (trade shows, etc.) or do the referral thing. Let me know.

  16. Anonymous9:56 AM

If your planning of Lucky and Moogs wedding is any indication, I am sure
that your new endeavor will be a success! Congratulations! I will spread the

Congratulations Helen! With any luck, Steven and I should be getting married within the year, so we should probably chat sometime soon. I would love some help planning.

What an exciting time! I had actually toyed with the idea of becoming a Wedding Consultant myself for the past several years. My company recently decided that they would retire me after 23+ years! After thinking it through, I decided that perhaps the wedding planning idea was not for me at this time. I want to have my weekends free, and I know that would be unlikely if I was doing weddings.

Right now, I am partnering with a good friend of mine, starting a manufacturer's rep business in specialty pet products. This is a fairly new industry, catering to boutique pet stores. I just got back from a show in Atlantic City where many manufacturers were exhibiting. We picked up some really cute lines there. My last job ended on 3/31, so I am taking a little time to gather my thoughts and get organized. Most likely, I will hit the trail full time the first of May.

Best of luck to you in your new venture! Keep me posted - I will enjoy it vicariously through your success!

  21. Anonymous10:20 AM

You go with your wedding consulting self!! Congratulations on following your passions Helen, it's very inspiring. Do you know Renee Minor from the wisdom community? Scott Weeden sent her engagement announcement out from an email that she shared with everyone. Best of Luck!

  22. Anonymous10:21 AM

    Congrats Helen!

Way to go! I am so proud of you for going for it. I just invited you into LinkedIn which is a networking tool that I just joined. It is professional and I have heard it is becoming a great way to make professional contacts. I am excited for you with your business! way to go!

Thanks for your e-mail a few weeks ago about your support of me moving to San Fran. Yes, I may take you up on contacting your two therapist friends out there. My plan right now is to stay through the summer here until my lease ends and work here in Boulder..and then save money to move out to San Fran. So, right now looking for jobs on-line around town.

    Hope you are doing great!

    love Daphne

  23. I am so glad you have decided on this path!

Hoping I can get up to Boulder while your mom's there. It was SO wonderful to see you and Patricia and Josh last month. And I appreciated so very much your willingness to drive down to connect up with me, the time and effort both.

Been meaning to write to you ever since and now it's already April 12th. Time flys when you're having fun! :>)
